A look at Indian Notes during the British rule

Every numismatist around the world must be considering taking a rebirth because one birth isn’t sufficient to learn about Indian Notes and coins. When the British East India Company came to India to explore business and trade opportunities, no one knew what their real intention was. Slowly, they began to dominate many parts of India and even took control of the Indian banks. Things began to favor the Britishers after the 1857 revolt as the British made the rupee the official currency of colonial India, with the head of King George VI replacing native designs on banknotes and coins.

It was in the year 1862, the Victoria portrait series of bank notes and coins came into existence and were issued to pay tribute to Queen Victoria. To ensure the notes were well protected, the notes of this series were cut in half, the first half was sent by post and the next sent later. However, the Notes of India during the British rule didn’t evolve as they wanted to keep a standard currency, that wasn’t complicated.

Just like a mountaineer who has his eyes set on the highest peak, a coin collector too has a goal attached to his heart and that is the never ending thirst to gain knowledge about Indian coins during the era of Kings. It was during the Mughal Period where coins transformed and various experiments were done on them. The currency notes of India after independence saw the minting of new denominations notes, some of high value. The RBI took full control of printing and design of Indian notes and many security features too were added to ensure counterfeiters don’t have their way. With the current government in power, the currency notes in India are definitely going to be one of the most powerful currencies of the world.

Why Teach Young Collectors About the Need for Quality Philatelic Supplies

Many of us find it hard to believe that stamp collecting was one of the most popular hobbies around the world a few years ago. Several countries have institutions and organisations which promotes philately in a great way today. Apart from that, several local communities are trying their best to revive this hobby the best possible way. It is sorry to know that after the digital means of communication have almost replaced the tradition of postal services and letter-writing, philately and stamp collection has taken a back seat. All the passionate collectors out there must get together and find a way out. Or else, very soon, this amazing hobby might become a thing of the past. It needs to start at the grass root levels, like schools and colleges, so that more and more youngsters are introduced to philately. Along with that, they should also be taught about the different kinds of stamp collecting accessories that will help them take good care of their collection.

When you buy good quality philatelic supplies there is a sense of responsibility that develops within a collector. Students and kids should be encouraged to store their precious stamps in the best stamp stockpages so that they are serious about what they are pursuing. There is a need for philatelic institutions and organisations to come together for educating the younger generation about the fun of collecting stamps. Experienced collectors should not only tell the new collectors how to collect stamps but also guide them on selecting the best stamp binders and stamp stockbooks. You will find many of these stamp collecting accessories in the local market, but buying branded philatelic supplies will definitely make a huge difference. New collectors should be told how to separate their collection of stamps based on various categories like country, themes etc. For that to happen, they should understand the importance of investing in quality stamp collecting accessories and philatelic supplies like branded stamp stockbooks, stamp binders and stamp stockpages.

Somebody has to take the lead. If anything has to start, it should start right now! Otherwise, after a few more generations down the line, people will never be able to experience the fun of collecting stamps!
